Prairie Berrie Winery

One of the hidden gems in the Black Hills is the Prairie Berry Winery in Hill City. My husband and I decided to go check it out as I love wine and the experience of wineries. Well this one out paces any other winery I have been to and trust me I have been to quite a few!

As soon as you walk in the doors, someone is there to greet you and make sure you know how the tastings work at Prairie Berry. One of the most unique aspects of tasting wine at Prairie Berry is that the tasting is pretty much unlimited. Now I’m not saying you can go in all day and just sit there and drink wine without paying. What I am saying is the the staff wants to make sure that you get to experience every vintage they have available so you can love their wine as much as they do! By the end of our trip I must have tried at least 10 different wines, including a mulled wine, which was a first for me!

Another interesting thing about Prairie Berry is their revolutionary system of tap wine! I have never seen this before and the winery is working on expanding from three taps to many more. The uniqueness of the wine is amazing as it is much fresher and sharper than normally bottled wine. The concept is that of a brewery who serves fresh brewed beer out of a tap system.

Speaking of beer, the owners of Prairie Berry also own the brewery right next door! So ladies (gentlemen) who are traveling with someone who is not a wine connoisseur, just send them over to the brewery for some excellent beer! The owners of these two establishments really have come up with an ingenious idea to make their business a must stop at place when traveling in the Black Hills as it appeals to almost all adults who like to drink beer and wine!
